Chelsea Seeks to Sign Watkins from Aston Villa

Chelsea has begun serious steps to sign Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins during the summer transfer window, in a deal that could reach a value of £60 million, according to the ‘Football Transfer’ website.
Watkins, 29 years old, has shown impressive form this season, scoring 18 goals and providing 12 assists with Aston Villa and the England national team, making him a target for major English clubs.
Although Chelsea’s management tends to sign young players with high market value for the future, the team’s need for an experienced striker may push them to change their strategy, especially given the significant pressure on Nicolas Jackson in the attack.
Arsenal had expressed interest in signing Watkins last January, but negotiations did not complete due to the lack of a sufficient official offer, giving Chelsea the opportunity to snatch the player this summer.
