Mohammed Al-Shalhoub Takes Temporary Charge of Al-Hilal After Jorge Jesus Departure

Reports have announced that Mohammed Al-Shalhoub, one of Al-Hilal’s legends, has taken on the role of head coach of the first team temporarily after the departure of Portuguese coach Jorge Jesus from his position.

Al-Shalhoub, who has etched his name as a symbol of Al-Hilal since joining in 1998, is undertaking his first official duties after retiring in 2020, having coached the Al-Hilal U-17 team and then becoming an assistant to Jesus in 2023.

Al-Hilal has exited the Asian Elite League after losing to Al-Ahli, and also bowed out of the King’s Cup against Al-Ittihad, currently sitting second in the Roshan League, six points behind the leaders ‘The Brigadier’.

Media sources revealed that Al-Shalhoub has submitted a list of his temporary coaching staff, which includes assistant coaches, fitness trainers, and a goalkeeping coach, led by Chilean Alvaro, who previously worked with Diaz.

Al-Hilal will face its first test under Al-Shalhoub’s leadership against Al-Raed, in the 30th round of the Roshan League, in a match that will take place at King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Buraidah.

Al-Shalhoub is known for his strong relationship with Al-Hilal players, having played an important role in the previous coaching staff, which makes it easier for him to handle the remaining challenges of the season before the arrival of the new coach.
