Slot: Satisfied with the Performance, We Will Only Make Summer Signings to Improve the Team

The Dutchman Arne Slot, the head coach of Liverpool, expressed his relative satisfaction with his team’s performance despite losing to Chelsea 3-1 in the match that brought the two teams together in the 35th round of the Premier League at Stamford Bridge.

Slot said: “A wise man once said that winning a match doesn’t mean much, and I agree with him. What matters to me is the way we lost. We faced a strong team like Chelsea, and perhaps we made some minor mistakes that cost us the result.”

He continued: “The players’ reaction after falling behind by two goals was positive; we never gave up, nor did our fans. We saw some of the substitute players participating alongside the starters, which gives us a clearer view of their true level.”

Regarding the participation of substitute players, Slot clarified: “I think they deserved this opportunity, not just for the match but because they have been committed throughout the season in training. Our evaluation of them does not depend only on playing minutes but on what they provide daily.”

On summer transfers, the Reds’ coach revealed: “We started the summer well by extending the contracts of both Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah, which was something that not everyone expected. Keeping them is vital for the team’s future.”

Slot concluded his statements: “I am happy with the squad, but if we find a player in the market who can raise our level, we will not hesitate to sign him. Change is sometimes necessary, but we are working with a clear plan.”
