We Need to Win the Europa League for Our Fans

Portuguese coach Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, expressed his deep concern regarding the injury sustained by his Dutch defender Matthijs de Ligt during the loss against Brentford with a score of 4-3 in the 35th round of the English Premier League.

Amorim said: “We started the match well and were in control, but set pieces and throw-ins caused us problems, especially since we lack tall players to deal with them.”

He added: “We fought until the end and were close to scoring, we put in a lot of effort, but we couldn’t achieve a positive result.”

Regarding the rotation policy in the lineup, the United coach explained: “It’s important for all players to participate, we are preparing for more than one match and we want to remain competitive, it’s tough, but we are giving our all.”

Amorim also discussed De Ligt’s injury, stating: “I don’t know the nature of the injury yet, and that’s why I’m worried, not only about the upcoming Bilbao match but also about what this injury could mean in the long term. We substituted Luke Shaw at halftime to protect him and prepare him for Thursday, but De Ligt’s condition is more concerning.”

On the overall performance of the team, he added: “I am confident that we are playing better lately, but right now we are losing matches in the Premier League. Our focus is now entirely on the Europa League, and the upcoming match on Thursday is the most important.”

Amorim concluded his statements by talking about the future: “In truth, we are not currently ready to compete in the Premier League or qualify for the Champions League. We need to win the Europa League to give our fans something to be proud of, and we will have enough time to prepare the team for the next season.”
