I Feel Disappointed, and We Can Qualify for the Final

Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta spoke in a press statement after the 1-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final at the Emirates Stadium.

The coach said: “I feel disappointed with the result. We put in a lot of effort in the match. We struggled in the first 10-15 minutes to regain our momentum and control. I feel disappointed for not at least achieving a draw.”

Regarding Paris Saint-Germain’s goal: “This is always the danger, they deserve all the credit, they come out in difficult situations, we had seven players behind the ball and they were decisive, sometimes you just have to recognize the talent of the player.”

On the disallowed goal and missed opportunities: “Great timing, but there was offside by millimeters, Martinelli and Trossard had one-on-one situations with the goalkeeper but they didn’t score, along with their goalkeeper’s saves, that’s the difference, and that’s the level.”

He continued: “Do you miss Thomas Partey? I think Declan [Rice] and Mikel [Merino] were fantastic.”

He concluded: “The first half is over, and there is another match, and we have a great chance to qualify for the final.”
