Officially.. Lopetegui as Coach of Qatar National Team
The Qatar Football Association announced today, Thursday, the appointment of Spanish coach Julen Lopetegui as the head coach of the national team, succeeding his compatriot Luis Garcia.
Lopetegui’s first task with the Maroons will be to complete the remaining World Cup qualifiers, with the first match against Iran on June 5th.
This is Lopetegui’s second assignment at the national team level after previously coaching his country’s senior team and youth categories.
Lopetegui has had numerous experiences with clubs, having coached Real Madrid, Porto, Sevilla, Wolverhampton, and his most recent stint was with West Ham.
