Real Madrid Decides to Renew the Contracts of Star Players for a Short Period

This move comes in response to a request from FIFA, which recommended clubs to make short-term renewals with players whose contracts are expiring during the tournament that will take place from June 15 to July 13.
This decision is made in appreciation of the players’ roles within the locker room, as Modric is the first captain and Vazquez is the third captain of the team, and they will ensure participation in the group stage against Al Hilal, Pachuca, and Salzburg, with contracts potentially extending if the team qualifies for the knockout stages.
Despite the temporary renewal, the continuation of the players for an additional season seems difficult, especially for Lucas Vazquez, with the return of Carvajal to form and the imminent official signing of Alexander Arnold, who may even be registered in the Club World Cup roster.
As for Modric, he has a slim chance of continuing, provided he reduces his salary and accepts a backup role; the Croatian player wishes to continue until the 2026 World Cup with his national team, but the final decision will be made after the end of the season.
